About + My Story

Screen Shot 2024-03-25 at 5.58_edited.pn

My name is Juliana Kolc-Dass, and I am a high school student from Miami. Since birth, I have fallen into the inevitable trap of watching too much television. My mother would change the YoGabbaGabba motto from ‘Too much candy will make you sick’ to ‘Too much TV will make you sick’. Of course, this did not stop my obsession with television from becoming more than a phase. Similar to most TV lovers, my infatuation became an escape route, but one filled with passion. In my mind, this escape wasn’t just entertainment for a moment, but a form of entertainment for a lifetime. Cinematography is storytelling at its finest. My fascination with film has opened up a creative outlet in me. With my strengths, I can tell stories with curiosity and imagination. The art of storytelling is innate in all creators and communicators, including filmmakers. As someone who has become interested in this profession, it is crucial to acquire film-related knowledge by investigating the stories of individual creators who contribute to the filmmaking space. This is what Film2Table is all about.

Film2Table interviews film creators from all around the world to gain a unique and diversified perspective of the film industry to educate and motivate aspiring filmmakers.

Come along with me on this passion-oriented journey to see if this can spark the inner storyteller in you.

The star of the show always catches our eye, but others in sight, almost unnoticeable, hold the most truth. Picture Tom Cruise sitting in a cafe eating a croissant. Who makes that idea of a scene so vivid? Is it Tom Cruise, the people in the background, or the croissant? I say the croissant, but Jill Goldston's experience begs to differ. Goldston, a prolific extra, has a long-lasting 60-year career that has shaped her view on the film industry. From being unable to make direct eye contact with Tom Cruise, dinners with David Bowie, and love scenes with ex-Bond Timothy Dalton, answers whether or not film extras play a big role. Goldston's husband Geoff kept count of every single job Goldston was involved in. An immense record of 1,951 appearances caught the attention of Anthony Ing. Anthony Ing is a British Chinese-Canadian filmmaker, composer, and co-founder of the production company Loop. Fascinated by those behind the spotlight, Ing’s search through Goldston's vast film history has allowed him to get a sense of her work’s impact. He feels as if he is in her shoes when sifting through her past in images. Ing made an English short documentary titled ‘Jill Uncredited’ that was nominated at the Berlinale competition.
